Bruce’s Story

ATTACKED. It’s dark and it’s cold and I’m scared, I don’t know where I am. I am a puppy and have never been away from home. Something bad happened today at the house and they took my dad away, mom was so upset that she left too. I’m not sure what do. All of a sudden I am getting attacked by a pack of dogs. They are ripping at my skin I am bleeding everywhere. I yelp in pain. I cannot move. I heard people yelling at the dogs but I can’t move. Oh NO! They think I am dead... Please don’t leave me!

ATTACKED AGAIN. It was cold and dark. I hurt all over. I can’t stand up. I can't see.  Here, the dogs come again! I hear people again, shouting, getting the dogs off me. They realize I'm alive. I am too big for them to carry me. They get me out of the cold and into a safe place.  But they don't know what to do...

KARMA TO THE RESCUE. It's been 48 hours! The neighbor who found me called a friend.  She reaches out to KARMA for help. KARMA immediately says yes, we can help! I am rushed to their vet. I am in bad shape, I feel horrible. I need surgery but first they have to make sure I will survive surgery so I wait.

OUT OF DANGER BUT BAD NEWS. Besides my bite wounds that need to be immediately cleaned out and stitched up, the vet finds I might have a broken hip. KARMA paid for my surgery.  Then where can I stay while I'm healing and waiting for my other operations? Jessika said she could foster until she could find a better situation for me. KARMA reaches out to their rescue network to see who could be a longer-term foster.

FOSTER CARE. 3 is the magic number. My new foster is the best. I'm still recovering, but I love all the attention and I love that she takes care of me and even better because I love my new human brother. Next is the Big operation for my hip.  KARMA is still supporting me!

2nd SURGERY. The big day has arrived, and my hip surgery went really well. They realize that it wasn't a broken hip, but it was a mal-formed hip from inbreeding.  The surgery and recovery went so well, I didn't need rehab. Once again, KARMA was there for me.

ADOPTION. I'm officially adopted! At first my foster mom wasn't sure; she has a pretty full house already. But when she looked at me and she saw how bonded, I was to my human brother. She knew that she had to keep me forever. The best end to a horrible beginning. I want to thank my neighbors, and KARMA so very much for making sure I was taken care of, and that I found a new life being loved and cared for.

WHY ME? During the day there was a big commotion at the house. The police came and they took my human dad away and my human mom left the house because she was so scared. So, all of us dogs were left alone in the backyard. Not sure when anyone is coming back for us.

They say my dad is a backyard dog breeder. I was living with my dog dad and mom and 4 other siblings outside in our yard. I guess someone didn't remember to close the gate. And there I was alone in a field. Or at least I thought I was, until the pack of dogs descended on me and started tearing me to shreds. At five months old, I don't know how much more I can endure.

It is urgent that we raise this money for all the pets like Bruce waiting for care. This is why we do what we do, and why we ask for your help. KARMA Rescue continues to fight for the underdogs: the pets who desperately need care to stay with their families. Once a KARMA dog, always a KARMA dog.
