Organizations

  • Amanda Foundation - Dr. Shipp's Veterinary Hospital - Full-service veterinary hospital offering free and low-cost service to the disabled, veterans, seniors, low-income patients, and other rescue groups.

  • American Humane - Help veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injury obtain lifesaving service dogs.

  • Dogs on Deployment - provide financial aid to military and veteran members who are facing financial difficulty regarding their pets' care. Grants can be used for emergency treatment or care, S/N, and other purposes as approved.

  • Downtown Dog Rescue – Their Pet Resource Center on Skid Row offers income-based pet boarding for those who are experiencing financial hardship, homelessness, and for veterans who are in residential treatment facilities for help with substance dependency or PTSD.

  • Golden State Humane Society - They work with the American Legion to locate and provide free veterinary care to the companion animals of underserved veterans in South LA and Orange County.

  • Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet - Their Foster Home program has a two-fold purpose, assisting with deploying active duty service members and veterans in specific situations. They find volunteer foster homes within their network and the Military Pet Assistance (MPA) fund to assist Homeless Veterans with veterinary care and temporary pet boarding expenses.

  • Operation Blankets of Love - helps struggling pet parents, including all veterans with pets.

  • Paws LA - PAWS/LA's PETSTRONG program exists to enrich the quality of life of low-income U.S. Veterans by providing assistance with the care of their companion animals.

  • Rescue Train - Pet pantry for low-income families, seniors living on fixed incomes, veterans and the homeless to feed their animals.

  • Sugarland Ranch - Based in Nevada, their Military Deployment Program provides boarding for dogs and cats belonging to members of the U.S. Armed Forces who were deployed to combat areas.

  • Antelope Valley Veterans Community Action Coalition - dedicated to assisting veterans find the resources available to them in the Antelope Valley and with the Veterans Administration. 

  • Fisher House Foundation - This organization builds comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay free of charge while a loved one is in the hospital. They also operate the Hero Miles program, using donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members as well as the Hotels for Heroes program using donated hotel points to allow family members to stay at hotels near medical centers without charge.

  • Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a publicly funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives.

  • Life Source Oasis - Based in Palmdale, their mission is to empower female Veterans through sustainable housing and life-skill solutions with a goal of achieving productive reintegration and citizenship.

  • Riverside County Veterans Services - They promote and honor all veterans, and enhance their quality of life and that of their dependents and survivors through counseling, claims assistance, education, advocacy, and special projects.

  • Strength in Support - provides mental health services to military personnel, veterans and their families, including individual and family therapy, mentorship and education to address all areas of our heroes well being.

  • Veterans Legal Institute® (VLI) - provides pro bono legal assistance to homeless, at risk, disabled and low income current and former service members to eradicate barriers to housing, healthcare, education, and employment and foster self-sufficiency.

  • Wounded Warrior Project - through our direct programs in mental health, career counseling, and long-term rehabilitative care, along with our advocacy efforts, we improve the lives of millions of warriors and their families.
